I love the way light and shadow create a mood and I love rich colors. Oil paint provides the perfect medium for this expression. Making something come alive on canvas is my reward, and knowing there is always something new to master is what keeps me energized.
BIOGRAPHY
As far back as my childhood I have been in love with drawing. My parents sent me to the Maryland Institute of Art Saturday School as a teenager, and I spent four years there learning the basics of drawing, watercolor, oil painting and fashion design. But I went in a different direction in my college years, and from there a job, marriage and a family were my focus. I did manage to maintain art related hobbies in some form during those years. But it wasn’t until retirement in 2013 that my focus changed to oil painting. Since then I have continued art education through classes and workshops, and instructional DVDs from many accomplished artists. I am an award winning member of the former Oak Leaf Artist Guild, and served as President of that organization for several years. I am also a juried member of the Greater St Louis Art Association in the categories of oil painting and drawing, and a founding member of the Heartland Art Club. My drawings on a variety of wildlife have been published in periodicals by the Maryland Extension Service of the University of Maryland. I have exhibited at the Missouri Artists on Main Gallery in St Charles, MO and the Galleries at the Heartland Art Club in Kirkwood, MO.
